As you can appreciate, building a $4 million business required good communication skills to succeed. We had to develop our own promotional literature, SOP's, handbooks, instruction manuals, proposals, company newsletters, and in-house memos.

Susan and I had to communicate in writing very quickly and concisely. I authored numerous articles on corrosion control in central air conditioning systems, saltwater aquariums, analytical testing, and lab management. I needed to effectively translate these highly complex subjects to a level that would be comprehended by business owners, engineers, service personnel, and consumers.

Further, managing 95 people necessitated that we express our wishes clearly so that our staff would achieve our goals. I wrote hundreds of memos that were very well received by our employees.

Since our work was so technical in nature, employing writers was not practical. Without an intimate, working knowledge of ICM's subject matter, it would have been unrealistic for a writer to compose the materials we required in a timely fashion. So, we wrote all kinds of literature to fulfill our needs. Now, through LBD Associates, Susan and I are offering these skills on a freelance basis.
